+ What is sublimated metal art?
Sublimated metal art uses heat and pressure to infuse high-definition artwork into a specially coated aluminium surface.
Unlike a traditional paper print, the image is transferred into the coated surface rather than simply printed as a conventional layer on top.
The result is a vibrant, durable and highly detailed piece of metal wall art with excellent colour depth and a smooth premium finish.

Mass-produced prints can be manufactured in thousands of identical copies.
At Eslaby, every piece is individually crafted, finished by hand and released in strictly limited editions — often just 50 copies worldwide.
Each plate is signed and numbered, transforming it from simple wall decoration into a distinctive collectible decorative piece.
+ What material are Eslaby plates made from?
Eslaby metal plates are made from 1 mm coated aluminium, providing a lightweight, rigid and modern alternative to traditional paper wall art.
The smooth coated surface is specifically designed for sublimation printing, allowing the artwork to reproduce vivid colours and fine detail.
+ Are Eslaby metal plates scratch resistant?
Yes. The coated aluminium surface is designed to withstand minor everyday scratches, normal handling and fingernail contact better than a standard paper poster.
Scratch resistant does not mean scratch-proof. Sharp objects, abrasive materials or strong pressure can still leave permanent marks on the surface.
With normal handling and care, the aluminium construction provides a durable surface suitable for long-term display.
+ Are Eslaby metal plates water resistant?
Yes. Unlike a traditional paper poster, the coated aluminium surface is resistant to everyday moisture, accidental splashes and brief contact with water.
This makes the surface easier to care for and less vulnerable to accidental moisture than conventional paper artwork.
Water resistant does not mean that the product is intended for immersion or prolonged exposure to water.
+ What does “waterproof surface” in some product images mean?
Some Eslaby promotional mockups use the term “waterproof surface” to visually communicate the moisture-resistant properties of the coated aluminium surface.
In practical terms, this should be understood as water resistant during normal household use: the surface can handle splashes, moisture and accidental brief contact with water.
Eslaby plates are not intended to be submerged in water or continuously exposed to wet conditions.
+ Will the colours fade over time?
Sublimation creates a durable print by infusing the artwork into the coated surface rather than applying a conventional printed layer on top.
This gives Eslaby plates greater resistance to everyday fading than a standard paper poster and helps preserve colour and detail over time.
As with virtually any printed artwork, prolonged exposure to strong direct sunlight may gradually reduce colour intensity. For the best long-term appearance, avoid continuous direct sunlight.
+ How should I clean my metal plate?
For normal cleaning, simply use a soft, clean microfibre cloth to remove dust or fingerprints.
If necessary, the cloth can be slightly dampened with water. Dry the surface afterwards with another clean, soft cloth.
Avoid abrasive sponges, harsh chemicals and aggressive cleaning products, as these may damage or scratch the coated surface.
+ Can I display my Eslaby plate in direct sunlight?
Normal daylight is suitable for the plate, and the sublimated surface is designed to provide good colour durability for indoor display.
However, continuous exposure to strong direct sunlight for long periods can gradually affect virtually any printed artwork.
For maximum colour longevity, we recommend displaying the plate away from intense, continuous direct sunlight.
+ Are Eslaby metal plates suitable for outdoor use?
Eslaby plates are primarily designed as indoor decorative wall art.
Although the aluminium surface offers resistance to moisture and everyday environmental contact, the plates are not sold as permanent outdoor signs.
Long-term exposure to rain, strong sunlight, extreme temperatures or changing weather conditions may affect the finish over time.
+ What makes a metal plate more durable than a paper poster?
Paper posters can crease, tear or become damaged when exposed to moisture or frequent handling.
Eslaby plates combine a rigid aluminium base with a coated sublimated surface , giving the artwork a more substantial and durable construction.
The result combines the visual impact of a high-definition print with the clean, solid feel of aluminium.
